Sacred Heart School Board Candidates
We will soon be seeking people willing to have their names placed on the ballot for a 3-year term on the Sacred Heart School Board. We will be electing 2 new members, one of which must be from Sacred Heart Parish to maintain the 2/3 Sacred Heart Parish membership. Since there will be 2 categories on the ballot (Sacred Heart Candidate and Outside Parish Candidate) it would be ideal if we could have 3 candidates in each category. If you are willing to have your name on the ballot, contact a current board member or call the school office. ( Just a little nudge) – it would be nice if we had some more men willing to have their name on the ballot. At this time, the ratio of women to men serving on the board is 5 to 1.

SHS Child Care – Summer Program
Will you need child care this summer for your School-Age children? (At least 5 years old or registered for Kindergarten in the Fall) Please call the school office if you have any questions or need registration information. We will need to have an idea of how many children will be attending before we make decisions on staffing needs.

Food Shelf Donations
The Junior and Cadette Girl Scout troops of the Melrose area will be collecting donations for the food shelf from March 1 – March 26. There will be a donation box at Sacred Heart School for anyone wanting to make a donation. Thank you for helping us with our project. Mackenzie Sand Troop 329

Open Swim Reminder Melrose Pool
There will be Open Swim every Wednesday evening from 7-8:30 pm through March 24.

Long Lake Conservation Camp February 22-24.

Ms. Hiltner and the 6th grade students and parent chaperones will be attending this environmental learning camp. We wish them a wonderful experience and cooperative weather.

Dates to Remember
Looking Ahead – Sacred Heart School will have 2 additional days off after Easter (Tues. & Wed, April 6 & 7) Staff will be attending the National Catholic Education Conference in St. Paul.

Head Lice

Early last week a family reported they had discovered head lice on their child over the weekend. Taking the side of precaution, we asked Janelle Hoffman, the school nurse, to come and check everyone and we all came out free of any evidence of head lice.

2nd Quarter Report Cards

2nd Quarter ends on Jan 22nd. Report cards will be sent home in the Monday folders on Monday, Feb. 1.

Sacred Heart Parish Children/Youth Choir

All boys and girls from 2nd grade and up are invited to join the youth choir. Amy Wilwerding has volunteered her time and talent to be the choir director. Practices will be held once a month and we will try to sing the following Sunday. (if schedule allows) Our first practice will be Wednesday, Oct. 14th in the Sacred Heart Church from 3:30 to 4:30.
