Becoming Catholic!
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA)
Have you thought about becoming Catholic and don’t know where to go? Perhaps you know someone who would like to join the Church and are looking for more information.
The Order of Christian Initiation of Adults (OCIA) is an initiation process for:
-
adults who have never been baptized.
-
adults who have been baptized but have not completed initiation sacraments on Eucharist and/or Confirmation.
-
children over the age of seven that have not been baptized.
-
adults and children who have been baptized in another tradition and wish to become Roman Catholic.
The conversion process should be approached with prayerful discernment of God’s will. Formal classes take place over several months. The process culminates with the reception of the Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist), or in the case of baptized persons, with the Profession of Faith, Confirmation, and Eucharist.
